Ahlam Shibli was born in 1970 in Palestine. Wishing to come to an understanding of her own living conditions, she has dealt in several recent projects with the situation of the Palestinian popultion under Israeli rule. Trackers is a series of photographs taken in 2005. It is concerned with the Palestinians of Bedouin descent who served or are serving as volunteers in the Israeli Army. The project researches the price a minority is forced to pay to the majority, maybe to be accepted, maybe to change its identity, maybe to survive, or maybe all of this and more. * The Trackers project was supported by the Israel Lottery Council for the Arts.
Ahlam Shibli wurde 1970 in Palästina geboren. In dem Wunsch, ihren eigenen Lebensumständen auf den Grund zu gehen, hat sie sich in mehreren Projekten der letzten Zeit mit der Situation der palästinensischen Bevölkerung unter israelischer Herrschaft auseinandergesetzt. Trackers ist eine Fotoserie aus dem Jahr 2005. Sie handelt von Palästinensern, ihrer Herkunft nach Beduinen, die als Freiwillige in der israelischen Armee dienen oder gedient haben. Das Projekt untersucht, welchen Preis eine Minorität der Majorität zu zahlen hat, vielleicht um akzeptiert zu werden, vielleicht um ihre Identität zu wechseln, vielleicht um zu überleben – oder vielleicht all das und noch mehr. * Die Produktion von Trackers wurde unterstützt von dem Israel Lottery Council for the Arts. |
